Colorado Precision provided prototype work and evaluation for both the Final Optics Cell and the Deformable Mirror for the National Ignition Facility at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. - The Final Optics Cell houses the KDP crystals for NIF. Three internal lands (40 cm sq.) were diamond flycut flat to 40 microinches. Material removal stress was analyzed interferometrically at every step. - Both the Mirror/Cup Assembly and Deformable Mirror Subassembly were lapped to apx. 2 waves planarity.
